DOC Québec invites you to meet the new leaders of the National Film Board’s French Program.
Monique Simard, head of the French Program, together with Colette Loumède and Marie-Dominique Bonmariage will explain everything you want to know about changes since her arrival at the NFB.

Since 70 years, NFB produces quality documentaries, often in partnership with independent producers. In a context where documentary filmmakers face new challenges due to fast technological evolution, in production as much as in distribution, it is important to understand where the NFB stands, it’s priorities and how it will contribute to the continued development of documentary filmmaking.

The discussion will be followed by a question and answer period and an informal meet and greet.

A DOC Québec member, Monique Simard became head of the NFB French Program in late 2008. From 1998 to 2008, she was head and producer at Les Productions Virage where she produced more than 30 documentaries directed both by known and emerging directors. Very much involved in the cinema world, she was member of many boards of directors and was amongst the founding members of Les Rencontres internationales du documentaire de Montréal and of L’Observatoire du documentaire.

Marie-Dominique Bonmariage, Assistant Director Programming and Digital Strategies, has spent more than 20 years in cinema and media arts. Most recently she was responsible for promotion and broadcasting at SODEC. She was also head of Vidéographe where she implemented the digitizing of the their collection. From 1996 to 2004, she was the administrative director of the Festival du Nouveau Cinéma and of the Cinéma Parallèle.

Colette Loumède, Head Producer, has spent more than 20 years producing films, in particular at the Coop Vidéo in Montréal, Productions du Regard and Synercom Téléproductions. She joined SODEC as analyst and was responsible for selecting documentary and feature projects. From 2002 to 2007 she was executive producer at the documentary Studio A of the NFB French Program. In January 2007, she became head of the documentary program at INIS, before coming back to the NFB.
