LOUISE BEAUDOIN, ANDRÉANNE BOURNIVAL AND JEAN LEMIRE JOIN THE RIDM BOARD OF DIRECTORS

Montréal, Wednesday September 29 2008 – The Board of Directors of the Rencontres internationales du documentaire de Montréal (RIDM) is proud to welcome three new members: Louise Beaudoin, Andréanne Bournival and Jean Lemire.

Louise Beaudoin has played an important political role, most notably in her role as a Minister (Culture and Communications, Intergovernmental Affairs, International Relations) and in the development of the UNESCO Convention on Cultural Diversity. She is currently a professor at the Université de Montréal.

Andréanne Bournival was, among other things, Director General of Programming at Radio-Canada, TV5 and at Canal D, as well as Director of the French Program at the NFB. She is currently a consultant in television, cinema and communications.

Jean Lemire has specialized in marine biology for more than 20 years. Recipient of a number of awards, his films have touched and reached audiences of all ages. In demand as a public speaker, he has made the public aware of the great environmental challenges facing the planet.

Presided over by filmmaker Philippe Baylaucq, the Board of Directors’ members include, Martin Dubé, Zénaïde Lussier, Benoit Pilon, Béatrice Keleher Raffoul, Monique Simard and Louise Vandelac.

The 11th RIDM will take place from November 13 -23. Full programming details will be unveiled at the press conference on Tuesday, October 28 at 10 AM at the Cinémathèque québécoise (335 de Maisonneuve Boulevard East).
