Public sector, private sector:
cohabitation or forced marriage for documentary?

A case study: around the Canadian Television Fund

The FORUM 2008 of the Documentary Network offers a debate on the adjustments with regards with the public and private financing and distribution of documentary in Canada and Quebec. A panel is conducting a case study of the Canadian Television Fund and its recently presented reform by the CRTC, which would have great implications for documentary and the independent production.

The FORUM 2008 adresses members of the industry from Quebec and Canada. The documentary community is invited to this event, during the Rencontres internationales du documentaire de Montréal, Wednesday november 19 2008, at  la Grande Bibliothèque de Montréal, from 8:30 am to 12:00 pm. (free entrance)
Created under the auspices of the Rencontres internationales du documentaire de Montreal (RIDM) by the professional audiovisual associations, the Documentary Network acts as a place to come together for reflection and discussion, to ensure that documentary maintains its essential position in the world. The Network aims to ensure that documentary plays its rightful role in the defence of democracy, tolerance, and open-mindedness. It encourages speaking out and public debate sparked by films that tackle the issues, aspirations and values of society.
SODEC and Téléfilm Canada supports the FORUM 2008. The sponsors are la Société Radio-Canada and Télé-Québec. The Documentary Network tanks Les Rencontres internationales du documentaire and La Grande Bibliothèque de Montréal, for hosting this event.
